| Topic | Action | |
| 1. | Matters Arising from previous Minutes | |
| There were no matters arising | ||
| 2. | Search for New Venue | |
| Several lines of enquiry were being pursued by various members of the Group. These enquiries were ongoing. Any positive enquiries would be fed back to the Group. | ||
| 3. | Married , Engaged & Dating Couples | |
| The needs of these particular groups needed attention and it was proposed to fix a date for a meeting for Saturday 13th September from 4pm til 6pm at Pheonix Hall. An announcement would be given to invite these couples to the meeting. The format of the meeting would be discussed nearer the time. | ||
| 4. | Welcome of New Members | |
| It was proposed that a reception would be held from time to time to welcome new members to the church. It would be an opportunity for them to meet the Shepherds and members of the various committees, so that they knew who to speak to in regard to various issues, etc. The date for the first reception would be Sunday 7th September after the service in the Music Room at Ladywood Centre.
It was also mentioned that a brother had moved to Sutton Coldfield from North-West London and had tried to establish where we met. Warner would follow this up with Malcolm Cox. |
||
| 5. | House Groups | |
| The question was asked as to whether House Groups were working effectively to meet the needs of the congregation. There were varying responses. For example, one House Group was predominately attended by brothers, another predominately attended by sisters. We would monitor how the House Groups went and would review the situation at the end of September, once the schools were back and the holiday season was over, since this may be bearing on the lack of attendees. | ||
| 6. | Discipling - one another | |
| In follow up to the Sunday Sermon by Warner Baker with regard to the discipling of one another (as opposed to one over another), it was suggested that we speak amongst our House Groups to establish how this had been received and whether members had taken this advice on board. The basic model for discipling was based on each member finding themselves three "discipling partners" in whom they felt able to confide. It was suggested that these three "discipling partners" would each have a strength different to his/her own and in areas where they wished to better themselves. | ||
| 7. | Contribution | |
| A representative from the Finance Committee had advised that it was perhaps not best practice to collect contribution in House Groups due to issues of security and scrutiny. The Finance Committee would therefore be asked to set up a rota for manning a finance desk at the end of every Sunday Service in order to provide an opportunity for payment of contribution by cheque or cash for those who did not set up standing order.
It was confirmed that the account number for the bank account would be given to us on Friday (22nd August). |
||
| 8. | Youth Ministry | |
| This item would be deferred until such time as Trevor & Maxine Dennis were able to present it. | ||
| 9. | Legal Spotlight | |
| Dates for a meeting to discuss finer details of the Trust Documents were to be arranged. These meetings would be open to all members of the congregation wishing to partake. | ||
| 10. | Coventry | |
| Warner Baker had been to visit the Coventry congregation. He was able to report that the members in Coventry wished to continue to meet in Coventry. There remains around 7 core members, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. One other brother would be joining shortly from North-East London. He had recently got a job in Coventry and his girlfriend was in the Manchester church.
Vanessa Ormsby would be a regular contact for the Coventry church. For her contact details please speak to a member of the Shepherding Group. |
